Acne, rosacea and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), are skin disorders caused primarily by inflammation. Excess sebum production, which may be the result of genetics, hormonal changes, stress, diet, smoking, and hygiene, is the cause of this inflammation. When your skin does not exfoliate as it should, dead cells can build up on your skin surface and inside your pores. Dead cells mix with trapped oil and then pores become clogged, resulting in blackheads and whiteheads. These may then become infected with bacteria that normally live on your skin’s surface, causing an inflamed cyst. These cysts can result in permanent scarring. The ZO Skin Health acne program uses a combination of treatments to target production of inflammatory fat (sebum), exfoliate dead skin cells, boost collagen production, target replication of bacteria on the skin surface to improve acne, rosacea and PIH. The regimen also includes antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory agents to reduce inflammation. Some forms of acne require medical treatment with oral medication or procedures.
ZO® Skin Health acne program is recommended for adolescents or adults with inflammatory acne breakouts with the presence of blackheads, whiteheads, or papulopustular lesions and inflamed cysts. Regimens are individualized to your needs. The systems work to improve the barrier function of your skin, provide exfoliation of dead skin cells, improve skin texture, prevent of breakouts, reduce oil production.
