Laser Hair Removal is performed with Laser or light energy that is selectively absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles and converted to heat, causing selective injury to the cells that make hair in the bulb of the follicle. Effective hair reduction can only be achieved during the active growth phase and hair reduction is considered permanent when a significant amount of hair does not return for a period of time longer than the complete growth cycle. Because hair follicles vary in the amount of pigment they contain, and in their depth within the dermis, multiple treatments with different light intensities are often required to target all of the hair. After a series of treatments, most hair is permanently removed. However, if hair does regrow, it will likely be finer and lighter than before
If you are burdened by unwanted hair and are of a fitzpatrick skin type of less then IV and in good health, you are a good candidte for this procedure.
Please refer to the "Patient info" tab and click on "What is my skin type" , you will be asked several questions, based on your answers, you will get a response from our office once your file is reviewed by a skin professional.
For best results, six treatments are recommended at 4 to 6 week intervals followed by a maintenance program every 4 to 6 months.
Treatment time is dependent on the number and size of areas treated. The procedure is not painful, but is slightly uncomfortable. There is no social down time following treatment. The area will be red for up to 48 hours and may darken slightly before eventually sloughing off as dead skin.
