Facelift for Men

Facelift for Men

Facelift, or Rhytidectomy, is a comprehensive procedure used to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck including:

  • Facial wrinkles

  • Sagging facial skin

  • Jowls

  • Marionette lines

  • Loose neck skin, or double chin.

A facelift for men is performed by:

  • Tightening underlying tissues and muscle

  • Repositioning facial fat

  • Removing and redraping excess skin.

Facelift incisions are masked by placing them in several different places including: within the hairline above the ear, within the natural crease in front of the ear, around the earlobe, behind the ear and along the scalp.   Nonsurgical facial rejuvenation cannot achieve the same results as a facelift, but may help delay the time at which a facelift is needed. Plastic surgeon, Dr. Capuano is a facelift expert located in NJ.

I was thinking of having a facelift with Dr. Capuano, but I don't want anyone to know, realistically, what will my downtime be? And how soon can I start exercising again?

Thank you for the question.  We find that most of our male facelift patients heal quicker then women due to their thicker skin.   That also cuts down on associated down time post face lift.  Part of our pre facelift regimen is to get our patients skin ready for surgery.  Meaning we want it healthy so that it heals quickly and evenly, this also lowers the associated down time. The best thing to do for men who don't want anyone to know they had a face lift is to grow their facial hair and the hair on their head.  As far as the initial down time, I would say two weeks, but on the off chance that you have excessive bruising, which depends on if you are having fat grafting performed at the time of your face lift, I would say that having an additional week in case bruising would bother you.  But men generally have gone the route of simply letting their hair grow and that has systematically proven effective thus far.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to any one of us at the Northern Center for Plastic Surgery, the office of Aaron Capuano, MD. FACS.  We are here to guide you every step of the way thru your surgical experience.

How are the scars hidden for men when having a face lift?

Hi there! Great question, post facelift we usually recommend that men allow their facial hair to grow.  This is the easiest way to disguise surgical scars while they are healing.
